Where Art and Emotion Come Together

Fractured Reflections (2025)

This painting is a deeply personal exploration of duality and identity, expressed through bold abstraction and vibrant contrasts. As the artist, I sought to capture the complexity of human emotion and perception by fragmenting the face into geometric planes, each representing a different facet of the self. The stark vertical division symbolizes the internal conflict between light and shadow, hope and despair, clarity and ambiguity.

The left side, cloaked in deep blues and blacks, reflects introspection and the weight of hidden emotions. The closed, stylized eye suggests a guarded inner world, while the pink line evokes vulnerability—a tear, perhaps, or a fleeting moment of raw truth. In contrast, the right side bursts with light and openness, its vivid whites and warm orange-browns embodying clarity, expression, and outward connection. The open eye gazes outward, inviting interpretation and engagement.

The fractured composition mirrors the fragmented nature of identity, where no single perspective can define the whole. The bold brushstrokes and vibrant palette are deliberate, meant to evoke intensity and movement, as if the face is in a constant state of becoming. This piece is not just a portrait—it’s a dialogue between the seen and unseen, the whole and the broken, the self and the world.
